Tom is an experienced Occupational Therapist, registered with the College of Occupational Therapists, BC and a member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

Tom has worked in both the public health system and in private practice. He is on the Clinical Faculty at the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia, enjoying his role of mentoring future occupational therapists. He finds great satisfaction in supporting clients to achieve their goals, and in helping them to maintain autonomy and independence. He works with a diverse range of diagnostic population groups including people with traumatic brain injury, orthopedic injuries and dementia. Having had both professional and personal experience of working with people experiencing the challenges associated with aging and dementia, he understands the issues firsthand and he is motivated to find innovative ways to make a difference. Tom has taken several additional courses in home modifications and aging-in-place including the Canadian Home Builders Association’s Adaptive Home Renovations course.

Services offered - please quote MCB5 at the outset to receive 5% off all services (excluding third party products involved in the home modifications, such as new flooring, grab bars, new lighting, etc.)

  1. Occupational Therapy – a range of services aimed at maximizing one’s ability to perform the activities of daily living. OT services aimed at these functional abilities may include:
    - a home safety or home accessibility assessment
    - a cognitive assessment and/or rehab programs
    - cognitive stimulation therapy
    - fall prevention consultations
    - aging well consultations
    - age-tech consultations

  2. Interior Design – interior design services may include:
    - a design consultation
    - design concept, schemes and development
    - space planning and rendering
    - setting specifications – finish and fixture selections
    - project management
    - liaising between client and tradespeople
    - comprehensive design drawings/permit drawings
    - sourcing custom and stock furnishings

  3. Home Modifications – combining the expertise of interior design and occupational therapy to produce the most beneficial and best looking home modifications.
