3 Easy Ways to “Green” Your World

Going more “green” in your life is not only beneficial to our surrounding world, but it’s great for our wallets too.  Making some changes now will bring about cost-savings and a more healthier way of living for everyone involved.

3 ways to be more “green”

Replace any old light bulbs with energy-efficient ones. Bonus if they can double as “smart” devices with scheduled timers and remote control options.  These can be very handy for the senior homeowner because of its convenience and ease of use.

  • Unplug toasters, and any small appliances that are not in use. Known as energy vampires, these appliances suck up energy when not in use!  And that energy that you’re not using is indeed showing up in your bills.  
  • Nurture your green thumb!  Not only are you greening your space, you’re caring for your mental health, bringing in extra oxygen that plants love to give, and beautifying your space.  Gardening can be as simple as potted gardening on your balcony, or a hanging basket of strawberries.  But of course, if you have the space, drop those seeds and grow things!

Greening your world doesn’t have to be complicated.  With a little mindfulness of your surroundings, and gratitude for the natural world around you, it’ll be easy and natural to make changes in your routine and help the world heal a little bit at a time.
